Splash 2015 - Day 2 at Deer Harbor

We had a very lazy morning and then departed Blakely Island to run over to Deer Harbor. It was about 1-1/2 hours since we decided to take a short side trip past Rosario Resort on Orcas Island. We got some good pictures of our boats cruising past the resort. This is the same place that Bob held the Jacobsen's Grady White fishing tournament. It was fun to see it again and to reminisce about the good times we had.

We then arrived at Deer Harbor and stayed inside our boats due to the heavy rain. We did drop two crab pots from Stargazer before we docked so 2-1/2 hours later we took the dinghy out to see what w3 caught. We were blown away at our success! The first trap had 14 crabs, five of which we were able to keep. The second pot brought up 18! Unfortunately, we had to release them all since we had already met our limit. We took Sue with us so she could see how the process works. When we got back I cleaned three so Sue could watch and then she cleaned the last two. We cooked them up and divided them into four bags for each of our boats. One crab gave me enough to make crab melt sandwiches for breakfast in the morning. Sue is planning on crab omelets. With this kind of success, I can see I am going to have to find some crab recipes and keep a few more staples on the boat

After a relaxing day of reading we ate dinner and then gathered on Larry and Cheryl's boat for a rousing game of Apples to Apples.
